Having trouble with Linux (particularly AMD machines)?

We need your crash logs! Please post as much information as you can along with logs - exactly what you experienced, your OS and system spec - and we'll do what we can to address these issues.

    thanks,

    Linux/AMD problems

The trouble - the game (0.11.5583) crashes as soon as it starts (after a normal setup sequence). I'm using Kubuntu 12.04 on an Intel Core 2 Q6600 on an ASUS M/B with 4Gb of RAM. I've used this machine for months without problems with the game, but yesterday I swapped the original Nvidia graphics card for a new AMD MSI R9 270X. This seems to be a powerful card but the reason I swapped was the driver problems with it on another computer running Win 7...

FWIW - I normally use Steam but I've tried it on a stand-alone basis with similar results.

Whatever, attached find the log file. Sort it quickly please - love the game.

    Edit: Driver info

I too have the crash immediately on loading or generating a new world. The real-time rendered background of the main menu works fine, weirdly; would have expected it to not render 3D at all with a GPU incompatibility. Crashed on both 14.10 stable driver release and 14.4 beta; no modified catalyst settings. I only installed the card recently, so I can't say whether it worked on a previous driver version. Also, other Unity games run fine, so it's nothing engine systemic.

Specs below and log attached. If you need a guinea pig to test out solutions, send me a message and I'll be happy to help; I'm eager to get the game going again.

    OS: Fedora F20 x86_64
    Kernel: 3.13.10-200
    DE: KDE 4.12.4
    CPU: AMD FX-6100 X6 3.3GHz
    RAM: 8GB
    GPU: AMD Radeon R9 270X
Driver: Catalyst fglrx-14.4 rc V1 beta

    Linux/Nvidia problems now

I've just tried the game again on Steam on my other (newer) machine. It still misbehaves but in a different way. On the Kubuntu 12.04 rig it crashed to the desktop immediately on trying to play. On this one, running Kubuntu 14.04 (released version), it generates worlds OK and loads previous worlds without complaint, but on entering the game itself the view rises vertically without input and then the screen freezes. Pressing F12 (which is bound to Yakuake but I didn't need to use) returns to the menu. This sequence is repeatable.

    Kubuntu 14.04 64bit
    Kernel Linux 3.13.0-24-generic
    KDE SC Version 4.12.97
    CPU AMD A10-6800K
    RAM 8 GB
    GPU Nvidia GeForce 8800GTS (320mb)
    Driver version 331.38

Log attached and like Nigholith I'd be happy to test.

The problems you are experiencing seem unique to KDE, Unity3d and running in fullscreen. There are problems like this one across most of the Unity3d-based linux game forums. I myself have experienced it, there are some workarounds like changing resolution while in-game and running windowed...but since switching from KDE to a GTK-based DE (XFCE, Openbox, Unity, Cinnamon, etc) I have not seen this issue. Just something to consider
